Number of years working in the hair industry?

6 years

Background / how you got into this industry / travel experiences / something interesting about yourself...

Originally from Porta down Northern Ireland, I started working in hair salons when I was fourteen. At sixteen I went full-time and continued gaining experience and developing my technique before moving to London at 21. I love it here and couldn’t imagine being anywhere else

What motivates / inspires you in this industry?

Fashion is the biggest inspiration for me as you can combine the two together and adapt them into your own creation. Clients also inspire me, as well as people on the street. I love the feeling you get when you change a clients style and give them a new look, it’s very rewarding. I also love doing creative work such as photo shoots and competitions, as it allows you to use your imagination to create different styles that you wouldn’t be able to do on a normal day in the salon

What do you enjoy about your job?

I love being in a busy working environment and meeting new people. I enjoy both aspects of cutting and colouring but especially creative colouring and performing re-styles

Awards and training

I trained in Northern Ireland in the hair academy for three years completing my level 2 and 3 before training with Francis Kelly where I received in house training sessions with both L'Oréal and Toni and Guy

What hair item / product would you take to a desert island?

Well, as I couldn’t use straighteners, it would have to be Curl Crème by Bumble and Bumble
